It must be spring

It's that time of the year again
Cherry blossoms line the streets with pink
it's spring
It's been 2 years and 364 days since

Smiles return as daylight stretches
longer into the night
taking over the darkness
Footsteps on the pavement bounce
with a lighter beat
The stolen glances across the room

The sun shines differently
with a lingering warmth
not the piercing coldness
that comes on a cold, bare winter day
I remember the heartbeat, the blushes

The air carries a new fresh scent
the earth awakes
with a new sign of life
It was exciting; we were scared to death

It's the beginning of another cycle
the end of another
Everything changes
nothing changes
It's not what I remember it to be, not anymore

What had come to pass
What had died
is left behind
buried and forgotten
Everything else moves on
it's the circle of life

So this is how it is
nothing more to ask for
nothing left to see
as the tide changes
and the season passes
